Gulfstream Delivers First B-registered G650 in China

Gulfstream Aerospace delivered the first B-registered G650 to an undisclosed customer based in mainland China earlier this month, a company spokeswoman confirmed to AIN. This follows type-certificate validation from China’s Civil Aviation Administration for Gulfstream’s flagship G650 and G650ER ultra-long-range twinjets in mid-February.

“The G650 and G650ER demonstrate real-world capability that our customers value,” said Scott Neal, the airframer’s senior vice president of worldwide sales. “As business aviation needs in the Asia-Pacific region continue to increase, we are pleased to offer our customers in China the safety, performance and reliability [of] the G650 and G650ER.”

There are more than 315 Gulfstreams—some 265 large-cabin jets and around 50 midsize jets—based in Asia-Pacific. In Greater China alone, there are more than 184 Gulfstreams, the Savannah, Georgia-based aircraft manufacturer said.

Gulfstream jets based in Greater China are supported by a factory-owned service center in Beijing, a Jet Aviation facility in Hong Kong and an authorized maintenance shop at Metrojet in Hong Kong. The company also has approximately $55 million in spare parts in the region, as well as six service representatives in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong.
